Dohodu má nyní podepsat britský premiér Boris Johnson, schválit ji musí i obě komory britského parlamentu a po Novém roce Evropský parlament.

BREXIT – Changes that Lie Ahead for Clients of Health Insurance Company of Czech Ministry of Interior (ZP MV ČR) as of 1 January 2021
The close of 2020 marks the end of the transition period for the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union (EU), triggering changes in the area of health insurance as well. The exit agreement is striving to preserve the rights acquired through UK membership in the European Union, but in certain situations, changes concerning health insurance will nonetheless be fundamental; at the same time, several issues remain unresolved or unclear – among them whether and when a new agreement between the EU and UK will be forged that might give answers to the remaining questions.
One substantial change in the area of health insurance that will affect British tourists and individuals insured in the UK, in particular, is the blanket cancellation of current European Health Insurance Cards issued in Great Britain. These cards will cease to be valid on 1 January 2021 (regardless of any later expiry date that might be stated on the card), and after that day, healthcare will no longer be able to be provided to foreign holders of such a card, who instead need to obtain a new card furnished with the abbreviation CRA and the Union Jack. The UK has been issuing these new cards since November 2020, while applications can be submitted online on the NHSBSA website: https://services.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/cra/start. British policyholders may also request a certificate of claim to healthcare in paper form via an online application.
One open issue is what kind of insurance card Czech policyholders should carry when travelling to the UK after 1 January 2021. We therefore advise you to follow the latest information on the website of the ZP MV ČR or of the Health Insurance Bureau (https://www.kancelarzp.cz). If you are headed to the UK at the turn of the year from 2020 to 2021, please consult with the ZP MV ČR for up-to-date information on whether one may use the European Health Insurance Card or obtain a special claim certificate designated specifically for the United Kingdom.
